The Jon Brion Show - the VH1 show that never was. Well, one of them. This is the iteration filmed by Paul Thomas Anderson after the first pilot was canned. The show centers around Brion improvising alongside guests preforming songs new and old & inviting other musicians to accompany. There is a Fiona Apple episode lost to time. This live set sees Jon x Elliott covers of The Kinks, Lennon, & Big Star, Smith songs, and my favorite version of Jon Brion’s “Trouble”. Brion is a nerd genius. Some people think Elliott seems really depressed but I’ve always thought this was the most normally he’s ever behaved. It’s friendly and tender and sweet.
P.S. Brion produce Fiona Apple’s first taste, in case you’ve ever wondered why the instrumentals r soooo heavy.
You’re sixteen, the dude at your work who you love gives you shitty weed and sends you Radiohead’s From the Basement performance of In Rainbows. You listen on loop for an entire year and only suicidally ideate a little bit.
A basically perfect hourish of music that would be my first choice for desert island
in this, Malkamus almost seems human.
i really do love each and every one of you librarianofbabylon@gmail.com
maybe mostly for real fans of the documentary form. inside the lives of a canadian couple and their song Bogart during the late 60s. Pioneering this kind of documentation of the 'real', Billy and Anionette don't just trapse around in orange jumpsuits and scream at eachother about buying harpsichords - it's funny then it's brutal and then it's a little funny one more time. Pay no mind to the words HANDJOB in the file name of this movie there is NO HANDJOB.
Do not watch with your squeamish friend and make sure that you don’t read anything about this movie before you watch it. It is kind of disgusting. Thanks.
Amazon Review Poem from Daniel Malette titled “Birthday Gift”
It was on my daughter's Amazon wishlist.
Of course, she was very happy with it.
